Jul-22-09  Knight13: How about 25...Bd7 with the idea of ...a6 ...b5?
Jul-25-09  just a kid: <knight13>Well first of all,White can always take the b6-pawn in the event of a6,and White could always play 26.Bb5

wwall: It looks like the losing move was 52...Rc2?, allowing White to play Rd7+ and penetrate on the 7th rank while blocking in the Black Rook. Black should draw with 52...Bc2 53.Ka3 Bb3 54.Bxb3 axb3 55.Kxb3 Kxe6.
May-31-16  sneaky pete: Staunton in the tournament book only gives the moves up to 42... Qc5 and writes: The game was prolonged a few more moves, and was finally won by Captain Kennedy.

Prolonged! His readers had to miss the most interesting phase of the game, mistake(s) included.

white played the crazy 59.Rg7 .. (still winning I guess) when 59.g7 .. is so obvious. He didn't. Schachzeitung (May/June 1852) has the correct score 59.g7 Rxc4+ 60.Kxc4 1-0 (correction submitted).

Jun-01-16  zanzibar: Glad to see Z-base version went out to move 60 already.

This could be a pain - tracking <CG> updates after I've already run through the tournaments.

The editor notes really is starting to need some filter/search capabilities.

Jun-06-16  zanzibar: For the record -

CB goes out 60 moves, but has 59.Rg7

NIC only goes out 42 moves.
