Mar-25-04  alax: this page is really cool
Jul-29-09  Knight13: 16...cxd4 17. Bxc6 Qxc6 18. cxd5 d4 and I believe Black is better.
Jul-30-09  sneaky pete: If 16... cxd4 17.Bxc6 Qxc6 18.cxd4 d5 white might still try 19.Ba3 .. winning the exchange. I'm probably a bit stupid (I've been drinking wine, which some people claim contains alcohol, which, as we all know, causes brain damage), but I fail to see why white should exchange his LSB and cannot play cxd4 .. followed by Ba3 .. immediately.
Jul-30-09  sneaky pete: Very Nimzowitschian play by Anderssen, he may have been infected by Elijah Williams.

16... Rg7 is as deep and brilliant as anything immortal or evergreen from the great man. May I point out, that the position after 25.Ng1 .. is perfectly fitting for a Monday or Tuesday puzzle?

Jul-31-09  Knight13: Oh well Black never bothered to move his f8 rook out of the a3-f8 diagonal in order to play ....cxd4 ...d5.
