  tamar: Uncanny how Schlechter's pieces suddenly swarm all over the center and Kingside, while Black's Queen is the only piece fighting.

Spassky had a similar talent of quietly amassing a lethal force.

Chigorin probably saw that after 28...Qxd5 29 h5! pries open the King position, for if 29...gxh5 30 Rg4+ wins the queen, while 29...Nc6 30 Qf6+ Kh7 31 Rg4 Rg8 32 Qxf7+ Qxf7 33 Rxf7+ Rg7 34 Rxg7+ Kxg7 35 Rxg6+ Kh7 36 Nf5 is a slow but sure death for Black.
