  plang: Timman felt that he would have had good compensation for the pawn after 14..Nxd4 15 Bxd4..Bxd4 16 Bxg6..Bxf2+ 17 Rxf2..fxg 18 Qd4. 15 Bb5 had been played in Gligoric-Matanovic Tel Aviv 1966 (not included in this database; 15 Bb1 was new. 17..Bf5 was recommended as an equalizing move; after Anand's 17..Qb6?! White had an initiative. After the game it was pointed out that Timman missed the strong continuation 28 Qd7!..Bg7 29 Be7..Ra8 30 b6..Qb6 31 Rc1..Qe6 32 Qxb7..Re8 33 Bb4 with a safe extra pawn.
