Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-10-07  beatles fan: Classic bishop of opposite colour ending. White ties up the black forces with the queenside passed pawn, while what he had in mind was to walk over and munch the kingside pawns. Outlined in Schiller's endgame book, 639 endgame positions. Great Book Schiller!!!

Eric Schiller: <beatles fan> Thanks! It is a compendium of practical material. Some people wonder about the title, I point out that almost all interesting endgames are "essential" for success in the endgame. There have been a number of enjoyable endgame books in recent years, we are lucky.
