Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-06-03  mprchess: This is a great ending, very unique.
Apr-13-04  dag: Yes, great ending--great beginning and middle, too. The whole meticulous scurry after 27--as Mayor Daley said of winning elections in Chicago, you have to know how to count. Though not only that here--Réti's one-pawn advantage could have easily been frittered away, but instead he slyly uses it to Tantalize Tartakower away at 52, a "free" pawn that cost him the game. Réti seems to have kept in mind more fully the need for pawns and king to move in ensemble. And the tactical steel of not knocking off the pawn at 54--he already saw the sequence to the end, and knew that he both couldn't afford it and didn't need it. This game is full of devious psychology, rather belying the quiet opening moves Réti invented. And that final coup de grâce must have been enormously satisfying for all that he foresaw it.
Jan-06-06  cpryob123: Like in my games, I believe white should play "E4!.. Fxe4 2. Ng5.. etc."
Jan-06-06  cpryob123: Great mate at the end!
May-28-09  Champ Chess Player: I think that it is simply amazing how Reti plays his games.
Sep-16-18  jabinjikanza: Remarkable game
Sep-16-18  Howard: Probably not very often that you have a knight ending in less than 30 moves.
