Sep-19-19  iron john: rooks look winning .

keypusher: Incidentally, I would have thought 26.cxd4 was winning, by analogy with Tarrasch vs E Thorold, 1890, but a 25 minute/45 ply SF search returns a verdict of 0.00. I'll never understand chess.

keypusher: <iron john> I agree that it looks winning, but apparently Black can save the game by going after White's pawns rather than defending his own.

50.Rxb5+ Kxb5 51.Kf3 Kc5 52.Kf4 Kd5 53.Kg5 Ke4 54.g4 Kf3 55.h5 gxh5 56.gxh5 Ke4 57.Kh6 Kf5 58.Kxh7 Kf6 and now if 59.Kg8, then ...Kg5 draws, but if 59.h6, then ...Kf7 and the white King will never be able to get out of the way of his pawn. (edited to fix a typo)
