Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-14-08  luzhin: FD Yates himself described this as his best game. Black's defence was not perfect (21..h6 would have been much better than 21..g6) but the attack, beginning with 16.b3!, is truly elegant.
May-07-12  Anderssen99: After sacrificing his "a" pawn Yates later sacrifices his "b" pawn too. The beauty of White's 29th move is seen after: 30. ...,Kf7. 31.Qxb4!! (Now the threat 32.Qe7+ mating leaves Black helpless),Ra-e8. 32.Rh7+,Kg8. 33.Rg7+,Kh8. 34.Qh4 (An "intercontinental" mate!!).
