Jul-04-03  Benjamin Lau: The difference between Alekhine and Capablanca is that only Alekhine would have thought about struggling through moves 60-95... Geez...

Come again? Do you think you could have done better at the board? Or are you implying that Capa would have given it up as a draw?

I'm sure that with silicon assistance, there are ways to improve upon Alekhine's play, but the remark above is gratuitous, to put it mildly.

Actually, we might well have to wait 8 years to see if that is true.

perfidious: Exceprted from the page of Benjamin Lau, last seen in 2004:

<....I've decided to leave chessgames.com and not come back. It's simply too exhausting to defend myself against AJ's crazy fabrications about me....

....AJ: If you really think I sent you a virus, e-mail me a description of the virus and I will investigate my computer thoroughly. Any further whining from you online is simply for ignominious display and libel, and shows you were lying all along and you have no virus....>

And it's the poor <Life Twit> who's put upon at every turn, or so one might think.

Sep-13-11  TheFocus: Another victim of the plague called <Apple Jack>.
Sep-13-11  Robed.Bishop: I think he's one of the four horseman of the apocalypse but I'm not sure which one. Prepare yourselves, THE END IS COMING!

It was obviously a joke. Notice how it mimics Benjamin Lau's original post? Apparently it was lost on you.

I just found it amusing that you were asking questions and getting your knickers in a knot over a post from 8 years ago, from a user who most of us know hasn't been around in forever. (which you are now aware of as you appear to have researched it.) I was amused by your efforts to squeeze blood from a stone.

I was not attacking you, though I was making a joke at your expense. My condolences if you totally set yourself up for that.

Benjamin Lau was an active contributor when he was here, and one of the better ones to have around.

It's always unfortunate to see the decent ones go, in this case driven away by someone whose behaviour should long since have got him banned.

tpstar: Maybe Ben *was* Bobby. They were never seen together, right? Perhaps Ben/Bobby was afraid <sleepkid> would punch him in the nose when he found out ...

<Benjamin Lau>'s legacy = Game Collection: Picturesque Positions

Along with what <square dance> said to <actual> about Angelina Jolie. =)

perfidious: <tpstar> The illustrious <lamont> would know for sure-he's the one always playing up this nonsense of having palled around with the great man and so forth.....
