Jan-19-04  Dick Brain: I wonder how many chess players would find 43...h5! over the board without knowing it was Black to play and win. The idea is 44.. Qh1+ 45 Kg3 h4+ 46 Kf2 Qh2+ winning the Queen which could not leave the second rank because then 44... Qh2#. Either capture of the pawn in mate in one or two. Moving the Queen to a safer square on the second rank doesn't suffice because then 44 ...c2 forces it right back.
Jan-20-04  Calli: <Dick> True, but probably AA already saw h5 two moves before. The punctuation belongs on 42...g5+!! And maybe a 41.Nd1?? for Znosko letting the queen in there.
Jun-11-04  acirce: It is probably hopeless already before 41. Nd1 <Calli>. However, I agree 42...g5+ and 43...h5 are very pretty.
