Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-14-07  Whitehat1963: I remember some fairly heated disagreement about the advent of the "exchange sacrifice." One kibitzer said something to the effect that it's a pretty recent development (I'm not sure, perhaps post '40s or '50s). Question, does Alekhine's 21. Re3 qualify as an exchange sac as it is understood today? Looks like it to me, but I don't know all that much about it to be honest.
Mar-14-07  TrueFiendish: He's already a piece up and gives some back to stop black's attack, so I don't think it could be called an exchange sac per se.
Sep-28-15  TheFocus: From a simultaneous exhibition in Santiago de Chile, Chile on December 27, 1927.

Alekhine scored +27=0-0.

See <Alekhine in Europe and Asia>, pg. 7-8.
