GrahamClayton: Alekhine had been on the Black side a year before in Bogoljubov vs Alekhine, 1934, when he faced 4. f4 and won, so he probably thought about an improvement for White, which he plays here with 4. ♘f3 and 5. f4. It is slightly unusual to reveal a theoretical novelty in a simultaneous exhibition.
Oct-31-15  TheFocus: From a simultaneous exhibition against consulting teams in Palma de Mallorca, Spain on February 7, 1935.

Alekhine scored +5=1-0.

See <A. Alekhine>, pg. 101.
