<The main idea of this move is shown by the following short variation: 19... ♗xd4 20. ♗f5 ♖xe1+ 21. ♕xe1 ♕d6 22. ♕e8+ ♕f8 23. ♗xh7+ and wins the Queen; and since 19... ♗xg5 20. ♘xg5 g6 21.dxc5 would have led to a hopelessly lost endgame, Black must try the sacrifice of the exchange>
