Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-06-06  mack: As featured in a 1991 CHESS magazine 'Test Your Chess' article by Danny King.

10...Kxf7 is remarkably deep - the point being White can't play 13.Bc5 as the rook and queen are connected.

Jul-30-06  wlod: Thank you mack for the explanation. GM Shabalov has written in:

http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...

or http://tinyurl.com/qhybm

that 10... Kxf7! was conceived by GM Alexander Wojtkiewicz, when A.W. was serving his term in a Soviet prison.

That's right - given that he's just passed away, it's nice to 'remember' him through games like this.

Aug-03-08  Chessmensch: See the following article re the "Prison Novelty" and an obit on Wojtkiewicz who died at 43. http://main.uschess.org/content/vie... Also written up in Paul Hoffman's "King's Gambit," page 250, which by the way is a very interesting book about chess and chess players (not about the King's Gambit).
