Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-11-17  Retireborn: From the 1986/1987 tournament. I am confident it was played in January 1987 but cannot find the round number for it; does anybody have that info?
Premium Chessgames Member
Chessdreamer: <Retireborn> The round number is 10 as in the games Mestel-Chandler, Gufeld-Conquest, Hodgson-Plaskett, Speelman-Lputian, Kudrin-Large and Chiburdanidze-Petursson. Source: Tournament Chess, volume 24.
Jan-11-17  Retireborn: <Chessdreamer> Many thanks again. That confirms 1987, as only the first 3 rounds were played in 1986.

  ChessHigherCat: I guess if 37...Rd6 38. Bc8?
Jan-11-17  Retireborn: <ChessHigherCat> Yes, the extra pawn isn't enough to win. 35...fxg2 36.Be6 were mutual time trouble blunders (36.Rxf7+ Kxf7 37.Be6+ would have won.)

ChessHigherCat: Wow, he missed his chance to beat the great Larsen there, I bet he spent a sleepless night for that. The draw was Grand Larseny.
