May-08-03 | | bishop: The Bishop pair dominate the ending in this powerful game by Anand. |
Mar-29-04 | | iron maiden: Wow! Vishy really kicked Butt in this one! |
Mar-29-04 | | Phoenix: He got his Butt handed to him! |
Mar-29-04 | | Cerebrate2006: ...poor guy, i bet he got teased a lot in school |
Mar-29-04
 | | Bobsterman3000: A lesson in proctology by Anand -- the mobility of the two nagging bishops were the cause of some serious Butt irritation... |
Oct-25-07 | | porgue: Butt at least it was a decent game |
Apr-15-09 | | WhiteRook48: isn't that the thing? A player named Butt! |
Apr-16-09 | | WhiteRook48: he got kicked in the,,, uh |
Feb-22-15 | | Abdel Irada: After 37. Bb6!, Anand has established a murderous bind. Black is practically in zugzwang. ∞ |
Jun-17-17 | | RookFile: At least black didn't castle into mate in this game. He showed good sense in putting his king on the queenside. |
Jun-17-17
 | | An Englishman: Good Evening: Remarkable position after 37.Bb6. The Black King, Knight, and Bishop combined have four legal moves that do not lose material. The White King alone has four. Pretty decent paralysis. |
Jun-17-17 | | SeanAzarin: Reminds me of this game:
Von Gottschall vs Saemisch, 1926 Except that in that one it was Black whose bishop pair dominated the end game. |
Jun-17-17 | | Eusebius: Wonderfully consequent play by Vishy. |
Jun-17-17 | | thegoodanarchist: Wow, this play by Anand reminds me of... Carlsen! |
Jun-17-17 | | Pasker: That's muscle play by Anand, so majestic. I miss that Anand a lot these days. Everyone is the same though. Winning games getting so hard these days as players are getting closer to chess engine accuracy. |

Jun-17-17 | | ColeTrane: Out of all the ways to make fun of this name CG went the respectable route.... The Butt family is actually one of the wealthiest families in the States. |

The Butt family is actually one of the wealthiest families in the States.> That is right. his extended family own houses right across the USA and the top 25 Butts are worth $868,960,250,000. The loser of this game is worth at LEAST $94,520,000,0000. That is a MINIMUM. |

Wow, those are some pricy butts! Do they take credit cards? Anand was born in Dec. 1969 so he must have been close to 18 when he played this game. Is that the age limit for juniors? Do they have different subcategories like diapered demons, kindergarten kadettes, etc.? |

 | | alexmagnus: On today's FIDE list Butt is listed as inactive with a rating of 2295. If he were active with this rating, he would be the second best player in Pakistan (behind the active Mahmoood Lodhi at 2344). He played his last rated game in 1990 - that is, shortly after this one. His peak rating was 2335 on both 1988 lists. |
