Me da la impresión de que Anand estaba progresando ya y Rf3 es un intento algo desesperado de complicar. Estratégicamente es una variante que permite cierta flexibilidad a las blancas. The queen sequence is way too simple to gata not to see it. I guess stopping Anand's preasure was a little bit more difficult.

Maybe, but even having said that, the white's rook is doomed and has no safe square to go. So the move 33...Rf3 is not "that" bad. If there are better moves, there are few of them.
