Zaitsev showed how black risked a bad position after "even the slighest weakening": 42..f6 43.♗d3 ♘xd3 44.♔xd3 ♖e7 45.♖e4 ♖e5 46.♔d4 ♔c7 47.♖e3! ♔d7 48.c4 bxc4 49.♖c3 ♖e1 50.♖xc4 ♖b1 51.♔d3! when after 51..♖d1+ 52.♔e4 white threatens 53.♔f5 and 53.♖c6.

Sep-23-06  euripides: <wad> interesting. Karpov adopts quite a positional approach to the Keres attack here, omitting g5.

On move 16 I guess if 16.Bxd6 Bxc3 17.bxc3 Qb6+ wins the rook on g1; or after 16.Rxd6 perhaps 16...Qa5 17 Nd5 Be5 18 Bxe5 Nxe5 and White's rook looks a bit stranded.
