Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-04-04  karlzen: Azmai' after the game: "In the position after 10.g5 I felt that ND7 or Ne8 with the intention of a quick reply in the centre would fail. White is just too strong there. Neither did I like h3-h4-h5 and so on. If instead, as I chose to play, Nh5, then I knew that white would sooner or later move his f3-knight to h4, exchange his light-squared bishop for my h5-knight. Then he would push his f- and g-pawns and Bh6 would soon come as an unwelcomed guest. The dark-squared bishops would be eschanged off and to keep my position together, the c6-knight would have to travel to the kingside and neutralize the h4-knight. That in turn would leave me with the b7-bishop for white's c3-knight and strong centre. Most pawns on the kingside would be exchanged off and my bishop would not have a bright future. When playing 10...Nh5, I knew that I would soon be suffering in a bad endgame. Nonetheless, I felt I had no choice." ;) j/k
