Nov-11-03  northernsoul: I don't get it - why is this a win for black?

Zenchess: This is an incorrect result; Chess Tiger 15 gives four different White alternatives which are equal. You can notify chessgames of the error here:

Sneaky: Maybe the game was really decided a draw.

Maybe it's a weird example of somebody running out of time in the opening (or being forced to leave the tournament hall for pressing personal matters, or something...)

Maybe the game went on for another 60 moves and all we see are the first few moves.

I think we are too quick to judge that the database has an error just because the final position does not meet our expectations. Not all games end in fairness and justice!

That being said, it probably is a wrong score, but I would suggest looking up the game in a book or Informant, or Chessbase.com, or something like that, before consulting a chess computer. If I find this game on another site I'll post what I discover.

Zenchess: In this score, the final position looks drawn. Black can play on a little bit with ...Rg6+ and ...a4, but the best he can do is get a drawn R+P vs. R ending.
