  Honza Cervenka: Interesting alternative is 26.Bxe6+ Kxe6 27.f5+ gxf5 (27...Kxf5 28.Qh3+ Kxe5 29.Bf4+ with a quick mate.) 28.Rh6+ Bxh6+ 29.Qxh6+ Kf7 (29...Kxe5 30.Qf6+ Ke7 31.Qe7#; 29...Ke7 30.Bc5+ ) 30.g6+ Nxg6 31.Qh7+ Ke6 32.Qxg6+ Kxe5 33.Bf4+ Kxf4 34.Qg3+ Ke4 35.Qe3#. Of course, Falkbeer's finish was also very nice.

InspiredByMorphy: 12. ...b6 & 13. ...b5 really started the downhill slope that Bird experienced from then on. Later queenside moves like 18. ...Qa5+ and 20. ...Qxa2 put him far enough out of the game to not be able to recover. It is interesting he didnt pay more attention to the invasion on the kingside. Too bad he didnt try 12. ...h5 13.gxh5 e.p. Bxh6 . Great play by Falkbeer with a nice finish.
Mar-25-06  AlexanderMorphy: Brilliant? yes. Difficult to spot? no.
Oct-07-07  pawnofdoom: First Robatsch game in the database and black gets crushed.
Sep-21-08  I Offer You A Resign: Qxh8!! Wow! Nice Queen sac!
