  OBIT: Ah, yes, this is another game I remember fondly. Back in the day, I used to crush 1200-rated players with the opening line 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nf6 3. f4 Nc6?? (or 1. e4 e5 2. Nc3 Nc6 3. f4 Nf6??) 4. fxe5 Nxe5 5. d4 Ng6 6. e5 Ng8.

Here we see this highly questionable opening line in a match for the World championship! If you didn't know the game is from a World championship match, you'd probably think the players were two elementary school kids in a scholastic tournament.

Jun-13-06  OJC: It is strange Bird didn't play 16. ...Bc5 (instead of Ba5) given his conception involving 17. ...Qb6 and 19. ...Nxe5 which fails because of 20. a5.
Apr-02-08  Knight13: 10...Qd7 is the right move. 10...N8e7?! not a good move. 9...Bg4 is preferable compared to ....Be6.
Aug-31-18  jabinjikanza: Edward birdwated on the hands of wilhem
