patzer2: Ironically, after defeating Bird's offbeat 6. ..f6 as white in this game, Lasker later played it himself as black to win in Schlechter vs Lasker, 1895
Aug-30-04  iron maiden: This game was part of a mini-match these two played consisting of five games. Lasker won every one of them. Next to Fischer's wins over Taimanov and Larsen and Steinitz's win over Blackburne, this match was probably the most impressive shutout in chess history.
Aug-30-04  Knight13: "Uh oh... Black is in trouble." Good game, dude!

whiteshark: After <24...g5> Black lost his 4 kingside pawns almost by force. Well, <24...Rh8> wouldn't have been any better, or would it?
Apr-05-14  WetPussyCat: How do I know who is playing white and who is playing black ?

perfidious: The player who is listed first in the heading is always White.

  HeMateMe: Laker v. Bird?

Was this the beginning of the Larry/Magic rivalry?

In the final position White is six pawns up. I wonder if that's a record.

keypusher: I remember from one of my old books a game in which a master successfully sacrificed all eight pawns. But I guess I'm trying to limit it to games in which the winner was ahead on pawns (and not behind on pieces).
