  plang: Botvinnik identified 16..Ne5? as the losing move comparing it to ..Ne5 in Botinnik-Ragozin 1947. He recommended 16..Qe5 17 Rg2..g5!.

  plang: Flohr dropped out after the 3rd round due to illness so this game did not count in the standings. 7..b5 is the main line; 7..Ra7!? was a new idea that Flohr used on several occasions later on though the move has scored poorly for Black.
