  Chessical: A forceful game by Bird, taking full advantage of a poor move by his opponent in the opening.

Mieses' <9...b6> is too weakening, he should have played Nc6, and after <10.d5!> he is always under pressure.

<15...Nc7> is no better, 16.Bxc7 Bxc7 17.Re7 Bxf3 18.Rxc7 Bh5 19.Ree7 Bg6 20.g4! and Mieses has no good continuation.

Bird's final combination permits no arguement.

Aug-15-05  positional player: In my opinion black should've played a6 on the 6. or 7. move, with the plan of b5
