Burn played the tempting 74 Rd8+ and lost. Instead, 74 Rh8! draws.

To understand why, consider the game continuation 74 Rd8+ Ke3. If White now plays 75 Rh8 then Maroczy wins by a neat Rook transfer: 75..a3 76 Kb1 Rb2+! 77 Ka1 Rb7 78 Rg8 Rh7

After 74 Rh8! this idea no longer works: 74..a3 75 Kb1 Rb2+ (or 75..a2+ 76 Ka1 e4 77 Rd8+ Ke2 78 Rh8! e3 79 h7 Ke1 80 Re8 =) 76 Ka1 Rb7 77 Rd8+ Ke3 78 Ka2 Rh7 79 Rd6 e4 80 Kxa3 Ke2 81 Kb2 e3 82 Kc3! Ke1 83 Kd3 =
