plang: 6 h3 is considered slow and is no longer played. In Monte Carlo 2 years earlier 9..Be6 had been played in Janowski-Tarrasch (White won); 9..a4 was new. Marshall's plan of castling queenside in this line was new. 19..Nb5 was flashy but accomplished nothing. Black had little compensation for the first pawn so tried sacrificing a second one with 21..Rd8. 22..Rd4 did not help Black; perhaps better was 22..Qc6 23 Bg2..Nc3+ 24 Nxc3..Qxg2 25 Rd1..Rxd1+ 26 Qzd1 though White should still win.
