  fredthebear: In the final position, Black is threatening to win the exchange with knight captures rook. Black is also prepared to play 36...Qd8+ which forces the overworked White knight to interpose, allowing 37...Rxa2#. Since White must avoid being checkmated, he runs for 36.Kb5 and must allow 36...NxRe3.
