Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-28-04  CapAnson: Not one of Capa's finer moments.. he suffers from his weak c-pawn and just kinda flails about while Euwe slowly but surely executes him..
Aug-29-05  RookFile: Well, don't feel too bad. Euwe put 20 wins up on the board against Alekhine, but could only beat Capa this one time.
Jan-15-06  Hidden Skillz: <RF> he did not play him 80 times either
Mar-31-06  Whitehat1963: One of only two losses put up against Capa when using Queen's Indian defenses, the other loss being against Sultan Khan.
Jun-04-07  Rajiv Herman Kramer: The knight on a6 is useless after 19 a3. Just like GM Alexandra Kosteniuk mentions in here podcast episode 18.
Nov-14-07  Fast Gun: A weak effort from Capablanca, the game has all the signs of a last round game, it is also worth remembering that AVRO was Capa's worst ever result in a tournament: He was 50 years old, with health problems and was no longer the force that he once was, however, credit must be given to Euwe, Ray Keene says that 20. Bf4 was the key move that turned the game in white's favour:
May-28-08  RookFile: <he did not play him 80 times either>

Well, whatever you want. They did play 19 times, and Euwe had exactly 1 victory, vs. 5 for Senor Capablanca. You can pick any 19 game series you want that Euwe played against Alekhine, and he did better than this.

Aug-12-09  WhiteRook48: Capablanca's last loss
Jun-23-10  WhiteRook48: this was one of his off days?
Dec-04-13  RedShield: You're getting a bit repetitive yourself. We get it.
Jul-30-14  Albion 1959: A feeble effort from Capablanca. Euwe took his chance and played well, but this is one of Capa's least memorable losses !!
