Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-22-05  Monoceros: One of my chess books that I've owned the longest is "The Road to Chess Mastery" by Max Euwe in which he reprints 25 games, annotated, between players of master strength and lesser players, strong amateurs. He leaves the names of the players off, identifying them only as "Amateur" (or "Expert") and "Master". Imagine my surprise when I learned just now that this particular game here is #23 in his book. Euwe reprinted for our instruction a game that he lost (and he's pretty harsh on himself in his annotations.)
Sep-09-11  sfm: <Monoceros> Very interesting. How unusual not to give names, I never heard about that before. Maybe some kind of modesty. Still...

Having seen what follows, 30.-,d5 looks like an error, and 32.-,d4 at least gives away the pawn with a hopeless position. Still, the total collapse comes surprisingly fast. 38.Be5! is hard to deal with, I see no defense against 39.Rd1, decisively exploiting Blacks 3 weaknesses: the bishops without good squares, the c-pawn and the backrank.

Sep-16-13  Prudov: <Monoceros> I managed to identify three more games in this book, viz.

#7 Euwe - Capablanca, London 1922, Euwe lost.
#20 Euwe - Nestler, Dubrovnik 1950, Euwe won.
#21 Euwe - Robatsch, Bern 1957, Euwe won.

Apparently, Euwe chose his own games. I suppose more games can found in the database.

Sep-16-16  TaregZarty: Good game against great player !!!
