Kibitzer's Corner
May-28-04  nikolaas: This game is played in 1956 in The Hague.
Apr-05-05  Albertan: 7. Nc3 is now the most popular move at th is stage of the game.

11....exd4 could also have been tried ie: 12.Nd4 a5 13.Be3 Nc5 13. Nb3 Ncd7=

Apr-05-05  Albertan: 17.exf6? looks like an error. Maybe Donner should have played 17.Bxc6! and after 17...b4 18.Bxa8 bxc3 19.Bg2 Bxg2 20.Kxg2 Ng4 21.Rg1 cxb2 22.Qxb2 Qf5 looks okay for Donner.
Apr-05-05  Albertan: 19..Rxe4 is an interesting idea. If insted he had tried to save the bishop via 18...Bg7 then play might have continued: 19.Be3 f5 20.Qxc5 Bxg2 21.Qxg2 Qxe2+ 22.Nxf2 Qxe3 23.Qxc6 Rxe3
Apr-05-05  Albertan: Donner resigned as if 23.Rad1 then Euwe would play 24....Qg3+ 25.Rg2 Qxe3 26.Qxe3
Jul-26-08  sneaky pete: After 17.Bxc6 b4 18.Bxa8 bxc3 19.Bxg2 Bf5 20.Qb3 Ng4 was intended (Euwe).
