Feb-28-05  Kingsandsquares: That was quick...
Jun-22-05  Nomen Nescio: Fine walked into it.
Jul-13-06  MrMelad: Fine opens like an amateur, Fischer eats him for breakfast. Black dominated this game from every aspect - Fine should say "thank you" he managed to play 20 moves. He lost control of his game much sooner with 9. g4 which basicly doesn't do anything and proves to do nothing until the end of the game. He should try to castle or develop his black bishop.

Fischer won 10/10 in this event agaist 2588 oposition acording to chessmetrics, including Reshevsky, Evans, Byrne and Benko.

Jul-14-06  RookFile: What event was this? Some sort of speed tournament?

chancho: They were skittles games played at Fine's house. They played eight games. Here's one that Fine won.

Fine vs Fischer, 1963

Jul-14-06  MrMelad: No, you are confusing with some blitz games. This was a regular tournament in which Fischer scored an incredible 10/10 (or 11/11 acording to a game collection), not even drawing a single game, with both black and white.

chancho: <MrMelad> It does say in "My Sixty Memorable Games," that Fischer and Fine played seven or eight games at Fine's house. But I may be wrong about this particular game. Thanks for the correction.
Jul-14-06  Runemaster: <Chancho>'s right. This is one of the "skittles" games played at Fine's house.

<MrMelad>, you're thinking of the 1963-4 US Championship; you're right that Fischer won it with an 11-0 score. But Fine did not play in that tournament. As shown by the list of Fine's games in this database, he really retired from serious tournaments many years before 1963.

Jul-14-06  MrMelad: You are both absolutely correct, I am sorry for the misinformation (too many open windows..) I've posted, it is the blitz game, Fine didn't participate in that tournament.

May-10-07  timhortons: he did use the armor and sword of fischer against fischer and fischer know where the weak spot
May-10-07  Marmot PFL: I understand Fine was angry that these offhand games were published.
May-10-07  RookFile: Well, Fine himself published a win he had over Fischer in some offhand game. Who published first? I really don't know.
