Oct-29-03 | | drukenknight: Here is a dramatic example of Fischer being out of book rather early. According to the bio, 7 Be3 is original, I dont know if that is true, we can do an opening search for that, but what is true is that suddenly Fischer slowed down a lot. He spent over 20 minutes making moves 7/8. And about an hour from moves 7-15 (IIRC). That's a long time for him. Now the interesting thing to do would be to see if we can show that Bobby's play is unsound. Obviously a real challenge. Garcia moves his K around a lot so that might be questionable. |

Aug-17-08 | | Atking: <fish1800: Can somebody explain 43. Nxd5? What was Garcia thinking?> Fischer's plan was probably Rh6-Rh2 forcing Rg1 then Bd8 and b5. Ra4 is trapped since 30...a51 |

May-02-09 | | Eyal: <vonKrolock> According to chessbase database, Fischer actually played this game with Gilberto Garcia (see also http://www.astercity.net/~vistula/c...), whereas the 1970 game from Buenos Aires was with
Raimundo Garcia. This site's database seems to be badly confused by the multitude of Garcias... |

Jan-01-18 | | WorstPlayerEver: Maybe Garcia expected 46. Rc1 Rb2 47. Rxc6+ Nxc6 48. Rc4 Rxd2 49. Rxc6+ but 48... Nxe5 simply destroys the White center. |

 | | perfidious: <td>, I first read of that in Levy's <How Fischer Plays Chess>. He also remarked that Fischer, while finishing equal second in Havana, was certainly at a disadvantage due to playing all his games by telex, so that a five-hour session actually lasted for seven. His comment was that, had Fischer been in Havana, he would likely have won the event by roughly the same sort of margin as he had Stockholm 1962. |
|
Apr-21-24 | | technical draw: <perfidious>. I think the rumor started because Miguel Najdorf told Bobby that as an international figure he should start dressing better. In fact Najdorf took him to his tailor and Bobby got 3 suits made. He started dressing smart and people speculated about a romance. |
