Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-26-04  technical draw: I don't think Mazzoni resigned. I think he grabbed Fischer's Bishop and threw it out the window!
Jan-27-04  Shadout Mapes: That sounds like something Fischer would do.
Jan-27-04  technical draw: I mentioned it because black's bishop seemed to get in the way all the time. It would be interesting to make a collection of games called "Obnoxious Pieces".
Jan-27-04  technical draw: Never mind I decided to make my own collection of "obnoxious pieces". Any recommendations? (obnoxious pieces on either side that get in the way of nice combinations)
Jan-27-04  Shadout Mapes: Reti vs Bogoljubov, 1924 comes to mind.
Jan-27-04  technical draw: Thanks for that link <Shadout>, however I can't include that game because I define my collection as games where pieces (or pawns) are "continually" getting in the way and making it hard for one side to achieve something.
Feb-15-05  chessmanelnino: Something about the poisoned pawn varitation has been bothering me. Why is 12 ... Nxe5 never played?
Feb-15-05  aw1988: After 12...Nxe5? white has the blow 13. Nxe6! where after Bxe6 Qd8#, or fxe6 Qd8+ Kf7 Rf1+ Kg8 (Kg6 Bd3+ and mate soon) Qxc8 and white is material up and winning. After Nxe6 the threat is Nc7 mate, so black must do something about that, with a dismal game.
Feb-15-05  euripides: Bednarski-Tringov 1964 went 12...Nxe5 13 Nxe6 Qa5 14 Bd8 Nf3+ 15 gxf3 Qe5+ 'with unclear complications' according to Gligoric. But this porous-looking line may have been sunk since.
Feb-15-05  chessmanelnino: Thanks guys.
Jul-15-06  patzer2: In Batsford Chess Openings, Kasparov and Keene give 10. e5?! as dubious with 12...Qa5! being the move that refutes it. They indicate 13. Nxe6? was a mistake and instead give 13. 0-0 Nxe5! 14. Rbe1 Nbc6 15. Nxc6 Nxc6 16. Qf4 Bc5+ 17. Kh1 0-0 (Boleslavsky).
Dec-05-06  Pawnsgambit: Stupid game
Dec-06-06  joelsontang: why not 12...Qc5? isnt it better than 12...Qa5?
Aug-29-07  Jack Kerouac: <Pawnsgambit 'stupid game'> Little too deep for your taste?
This is the kind of game you only see at the highest levels.....
Mar-26-09  Travis Bickle: <patzer2> Hindsight is 20/20! If Kasparov or Keene were sitting at the table in 1967 would they have found all this supposedly brilliant analysis? You don't need to answer.
Sep-13-12  Luigi Bros: 22. Raf8 for black and conserve the advantage of the rook.

kingscrusher: 12.Ne4 seems the way to go for White according to Chessbase live book - and also the latest Stockfish 13 and it seems to be about equal chances. 12.Bc4 is risky it seems.

My ChessBase has 258 games now for 12.Ne4 and just 14 games for 12.Bc4
