Dec-31-03  Dick Brain: Doesn't 30 Re3! save the game? I don't see how Black could get any more than equality after that. 30. Re3! Bxg4 31. Nf3 Rf8 32. Rh4 h5 - here White's rook is placed funny, but I don't see the finisher for Black.

whiteshark: Unfortunately Mariotti missed <29.Kf1!>, which looks like a strong move, securing the material advantage without risk.

Sep-14-20  andrew1961: This game has never been played.
Mariotti has never played against Geller in his entire chess career.

paulalbert: The opponent here is Alexander Geller, not the well known Soviet GM Yefim Geller. Are you sure your not confusing the two.
Sep-15-20  andrew1961: I have reported only the words of GM Mariotti who claims that some of his games on chessgames.com are reported incorrectly. And that he never played against Geller.
To be honest, I found the tournament where Mariotti played against Alexander Geller, although I find it strange that Mariotti doesn't remember it.
