  Chessical: A contemporary report:

<THE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP>. (Through Dalziel's Agency.) NEW YORK, Jan. 13.

The fifteenth game of the contest between Gunsberg and Steinitz was played yesterday, the first move falling by rotation to Steinitz, who again opened with Knight to King's Bishop third, as he has done on each of the last four occasions when he has had the right of starting. Neither player seemed to get any manifest advantage in the conduct of the game, although at one time Gunsberg appeared to have a slight superiority. He could not, however, force a win, and a draw was ultimately agreed to at the thirty -seventh (sic) move.

London Standard - Wednesday 14 January 1891, p.3

Jun-22-19  rcs784: A historic game--Gunsberg was the first ever to play a WC game in the Hypermodern style!
