  Chessical: Hanover 1902, was the 13th German Chess Federation Congress and Chigorin underperformed ending up a point behind Wolf in 7th place.

Chigorin plays an indifferent opening variation, but one with which he had had previous success: Chigorin vs Teichmann, 1896.

At first inaccurate play from his opponent gives him the advantage, but Chigorin overlooks a neat intermezzo with a knight (<23..Nd3!>) which costs him the exchange for a pawn, but fights back to near equality before misplaying his attack

<37.Qxg5> wastes time and allows Wolf to create Q-side counter-play with the sacrifice <37...Rxb3!>.

Instead, <37. Nd4> g4 38. e5 Qd8 39. hxg4 hxg4 40. e6 would have given him a significant advantage.

One move later, <38.Nd4?>, becomes a blunder. Instead, he had to play: <38. Kxb3> Qd3+ 39. Nc3 Qxc4+ 40. Kc2 Qxc5 41. Qd8+ Kh7=
