Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-18-04  bumpmobile: The subtleties of chess are completely lost on me sometimes. I look at the position after 22...Bf5 and I think "Hey, free pawn!" (23. Rxa7). But then Anderssen plays 23. b3. What was the poitional reason behind that move?
Jul-17-04  Queen killer: Rxa7 strays a little from white's intention

tamar: 23 e6! was an even stronger continuation, adding the threat of 24 Nd7 forking the rooks to the mix. This is a nice game. Anderssen played his best moves earlier, getting the knight to c5, and at this point was just choosing between wins.
Jul-19-05  The Careful Cat: Hi bumpmobile,

Queen killer:Rxa7 strays a little from white's intention

Isn't it much clearer than that?

After 23.Rxa7 Black plays 23...Qb8 hitting both the Ra7 and the Pb2 thus regaining the pawn.

May-27-09  heuristic: no one bad move for BLK?
maybe 21...Bc8 is better
22.b3 Qh6 23.Rc1 Rf7 24.e6
22.Ra3 a6 23.Rc3 Rf7
