Sep-23-05  DanRoss53: This position doesn't look *hopelessly* lost for White... perhaps the alternate score (20. ♕xb5?!) is correct... the end position looks much worse there.
Sep-23-05  weirdoid: Well, regardless of whether it was axb5 or Qxb5, white is a piece down. He does get two pawns (and I would play on with white), but I don't think it is enough compensation, so it is not surprising that Ivanchuk simply resigned - to my understanding he tends to resign early.
