Mar-30-08  mistreaver: isn't this a semi-slav rather then queen gambit?

No, this is a good example of the Cambridge Springs Variation of the QGD. The move order was first seen in this game: A Hodges vs Lasker, 1892

Compare the position after Black's sixth move.

Mar-30-08  Karpova: Actually, the Semi-Slav, etc. also arises from a QGD.

6...Qa5 and then ...Bb4 are very characteristic for this variation.

A nice game: Capablanca vs Alekhine, 1927
