Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-09-15  zydeco: On move 15, Ivkov comments: "From previous experiences I was aware that this move in similar situations cannot be good. I felt that it was wrong to put the bishop on another diagonal and nevertheless I did it."

Spassky rushed with 24.Ne4. 24.f3 would have ensured a lasting advantage.

By the way, I think that Spassky and Ivkov have a lot in common. They're both prodigious talents (world junior champions), they're cool guys, and they have a flexible, relaxed playing style. They even look alike. Both battled nerves and struggled to realize their potential -- although, obviously, Spassky pulled through while Ivkov never quite figured out how to obtain consistent top-level results.
