| | al wazir: The real purpose of 18. d5 seems to be to prevent black from playing Qd5. For example, 18. Rd3 Qd5 19. Rh3 Qg5. White is down a bishp with nothing much to show for it. |

<mymt> I don't know why I wrote that. I'm a bit absent minded... well a lot absent minded, so you will have excuse me. also I wrote that at 3 in the morning before I went to sleep (couldn't resist it). The line I had in mind after 18. Rd3 was 19... f5 so if A. 20. Qh5 f6 21. Rh3 Rf7
B. 20. Qg5 Qe7 21. Qh6
<Obviously not Qxe7 and if 21. Qg3 Bd6> 21... f6 22. Rh3<Only move> 22... Rf7 and white is done.

| Dec-11-05 | | dakgootje: Yup missed it totally, saw some moves of the continuation, but totally missed 13. ♘xd7. Dunno whether i would have had it if i had some more time and wasnt as tired as now. Always good to think that in an other situation you probably would have had it, even if that isnt true, as people who think higher of themselves life longer then people with a more realistic view of themself, so i happily let myself believe that it just because of the lack of time and concentration. ;-) |

I think White is still winning
but there is also 19. Rg3
hmmm 18. d5 stops it all in any case. |
