Dec-29-06  M.D. Wilson: Karpov allowed mate? I doubt it.
Dec-29-06  malthrope: <M.D. Wilson: Karpov allowed mate? I doubt it.>

I believe this was the rapids game from the famous '3rd Amber Melody Rapids and Blindfold Chess Tournament' made famous by the sponsor J.J. van Oosterom which is organized by the 'Max Euwe Association' generally held in late March in Monaco (right after Linares). There is a chess book published on this specific event "Third Amber rapid and blindfold Chess Tournament" (Monaco) by Guido den Broeder. Perhaps someone who owns this book could give us more info on this game. As it's a 'rapids game' anything is possible! ;-)

Dec-29-06  Jim Bartle: We all know that no 2700-ranked GM would EVER allow a mate in one.

Yes indeed! ;-) We shall just very quietly attribute this one - Deep Fritz vs Kramnik, 2006 - to a mouseslip! ~lol~

Dec-30-06  Chessdreamer: Tournament Chess 52 & Chesslab(http://www.chesslab.com/PositionSea...) : alternate score...55 Qg7 Ke8 1-0. Black possibly resigned before mate?

Could very well be true Chessdreamer! Only a factual account (as in the 'Third Amber chess tourney book' quoted below with a story of the event), or an eye-witness account would prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt otherwise. ;-) The PGN raw scores are not always 100% reliable as we all know... ~lol~

Aug-23-09  kurtrichards: Rapid or blindfold or any form Karpov would resign than be mated. Pride?
Aug-22-11  wordfunph: game sidelight..

<1994 Melody Amber Rapid Play and Blindfold in Monaco: There was a controversy when Anatoly Karpov lost on time as he wrestled with his mouse and keyboard in a blindfold game against GM John Nunn. According to Nunn, Karpov complained so long and so loudly that he distracted Judith Polgar, who blundered a rook, and eventually succeeded in convincing an arbiter to call the game a draw. John "The Doc" was not amused.>

i missed my source, sorry..
