Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-28-03  Dick Brain: This is one kind of combination that gives me trouble. Karpov won material starting with 28 ... Rxb6, but at the end of it he allows White to have a dangerous-looking passer a few moves later. He had to be able to evaluate that he would get to White's king before the pawn got to him. It would all be a fog to me.
Mar-15-04  rochade18: There are so many lines he must have been calculating through. (is this gramatically right??) That's why Karpov was world champion. To be able to win in such positions is his job.
Sep-09-06  Brown: Karpov plays 16.Rb8 instead of Spassky's 16.Qb8 against Fischer in '72. On general grounds, the rook on a8 is looking for something to do, and Karpov's choice makes more sense.

Fischer vs Spassky, 1972
