Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-24-06  zev22407: Karpov exploit his pawn majority on the queen-side,and blocks Portisch pawns.
Jun-24-10  sicilianhugefun: gotta love white's connecting pawns on the b and c files marchin down to victory
May-04-11  Ulhumbrus: A pawn sacrifice followed by a discovered attack clinches the game.
May-04-11  bronkenstein: One of those ˝Where to put the question mark ??˝ games by young Karpov.

He makes Portisch look like some kid from simul .

May-04-11  willychess: This is the karpov variation against the sicilian. Later was discovered that 13... Nc5 is the right plan. After the exchange of knights black plays "c4" with great activity. (14.Nxc5 bxc5 15....c4!)
May-04-11  SimonWebbsTiger: @bronkenstein

Karpov made a few comments in Informator 33/374

13. Rfc1 " " was a novelty.

He suggested 19...Be2!? 20. Qe2 Rf8, with the idea Nf6, gave counterplay.

However, black has preferred to play 15...Rfe8 with unclear play according to the books.

May-04-11  bronkenstein: Ty for info SimonWebbsTiger & willychess .

Just to clarify , I spent several minutes over the game, no comp or books . OFC i didnīt assume blackīs play to be virtually perfect :)

Sep-19-16  Ulhumbrus: GM Michael Stean placed the question mark on the move 20...f4 as it allowed Black's king side pawn majority to get blockaded.
