  Sneaky: Karpov does NOT fear this ...c5 gambit! He's never lost this line, although DeFirmian claims in MCO "11 Bxe7 Nxe7 12. Nxe7+ Kf8 followed by ...Bxb2 gives Black a dangerous lead in development."

DeFirmian's book is very good but I have to go with Karpov on this one. White's passed pawn is more powerful that Black's potential passers.
