Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-14-05  MidnightDuffer: Yesterday; the player of the day was Glenn Flear if I am correct, on the back of his Queen's Gambit Accepted book it says "The Queen's Gambit Accepted was Nigel Short's shock weapon in his devastating Candidates victory over Anatoly Karpov. Try as he might, the great Russian champion was unable to control Short's piece play in their Linares encounter." (try a search for this book; Chess House or other places and you see this said). Now, I would like to know, I see draws in their 1992 encounters in Linares but I certainly would like to see a win. These draws I would still look at as successes but not on the same magnitude.
