  fredthebear: With 38...Qd5 this becomes a logical positional battle over the backward d-pawn on the half-open file. Black wants to exchange queens and then pluck the pawn, but White defends successfully. Stockfish says White is at least half-a-pawn better in the middlegame, but it looks even to FTB.

One imagines most folks would find this game quite tame, boring. Karpov as Black is never seriously threatened by the computer. Scrutiny of the opening portion is necessary to find an advantage.
