Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-02-05  lopium: Very nice safe of the b4 pawn!
Feb-04-06  Isolani: According to Kasparov 15.♘e6!? is a worth a look.
Apr-05-06  AlBrown: 'The bane of the Velimirovic'
See Black's moves 8,9,and 10.
And Young Garry knew this in 1980!
Frightening...
Years later, we would all see the books on the Velimirovic asking why Black played ...Be7 and ...0-0, giving White tempos to build up a kingside attack. This game is simply superior opening preparation cutting through an opponent like a knife thru butter.
Nov-14-13  Howard: A word to the wise for Isolani....

....it was later discovered that Kasparov's notes in Volume 30 of the Informant, contained at least two
"errors" in the opening portion. I don't recall if either of them involved 15.Ne6, but it WAS suspected that those two "mistakes" might have been deliberate---in other words, Kasparov may have been hoping to trap some future, unsuspecting opponent who had the mistake of trusting Kasparov's recommendations.

Andy Soltis touched upon this particular game in one of his Chess Life columns in the 1980's, plus Kavalek did likewise in a 1994 Inside Chess article. Both of these writers definitely questioned whether these twin errors were honest "mistakes."

Oct-15-15  Howard: Hmmm....maybe this would be a good GOTD candidate.
Apr-19-18  Howard: I'm gonna nominate it right now!
