Indeed, 15... Na6 seems needlessly weak, and 15... Nxa4 looks natural and strong. If this observation is true, then it forces a complete rethink on all the earlier analysis (which is fixated around white's Rook sacrifice on move 25). Maybe Bent Larsen was under a type of spell (preventing him from seeing the obvious NxRP); and perhaps this variation of the Old Indian Defense is sound after all?? |

A few of Kasparovs continuations, especially back then, were speculative. Some were outright bad, like against Agdestein (which should have resulted in a loss). |
